New York, Feb. 10, 2018 - GPI and the New York State Gaming Commission announced that the $1.3 billion investment in the new gaming industry will be coming to New York!

"This investment is a real game changer for our state and its residents," Governor Andrew M. Cuomo said. "It solidifies New York's position as a national leader in the gaming and tourism industries and will create thousands of good-paying jobs across Upstate."

The project is expected to create 8,000 jobs statewide with 1,700 of those in the Capital Region. The investment will also generate an estimated $260 million annually in new state and local taxes. It is also expected to help revitalize neighborhoods and communities across Upstate.

"New Yorkers deserve first-class gaming destinations, and this significant investment lays the groundwork for world-class resorts that will elevate our tourism industry," Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul said. "These exciting developments will mean more good-paying jobs, increased economic activity and a better quality of life for residents across Upstate."

The investment includes two major projects - one in the Catskills and one at Seneca Nation of Indians territory. The Catskills resort will be a full-service destination featuring luxury accommodations, world-class gaming, spa, retail and dining options. The Seneca project will include a 500-room hotel, gaming floor, convention center and restaurants.

"This transformative investment will spur economic growth across Upstate and bring new opportunities to the region," Empire State Development President & CEO Howard Zemsky said. "With first-class resorts that attract visitors from around the globe, we are positioning New York to take its place as a premier global tourist destination."
